Can I track any type of vehicle?

Absolutely. BlackOwl offers a range of GPS tracking hardware to suit all makes and models, from classic cars to trailers.

We can also track a wide variety of assets such as skip bins, generators and construction equipment.

Do your GPS trackers require professional installation?

Only our Hardwired tracker requires professional installation.

All other models can be fitted to your vehicle or asset in a few minutes, without any special skills.

Do you offer weatherproof GPS trackers?

Yes. We offer multiple weatherproof tracker options, including portable and battery mounted models with high IP ratings.

What happens if my tracker leaves a network coverage area?

BlackOwl trackers are fitted with internal memory that continues storing GPS data if your tracker leaves a network coverage area.

Stored tracking data is uploaded automatically once coverage resumes.

How accurate are your GPS trackers?

All BlackOwl GPS tracker models are generally accurate to around 2 metres when they have clear GPS reception.

Accuracy may still vary in areas with obstructions such as buildings, trees, underground car parks or heavy shielding around the tracker.

How long is tracking history stored?

BlackOwl stores up to 1 year of detailed GPS tracking history for all vehicles and assets on your account.

This data is securely held on our server and is accessible via the BlackOwl app or desktop platform.

We do not disclose or sell your data to third parties.

How do geofence alerts work?

Geofencing lets you set virtual boundaries around specific locations.

When a vehicle or asset enters or exits a geofence, you can receive instant alerts via push notification, SMS or email.

You can create unlimited geofences with custom shapes and sizes, plus scheduled alert windows in 15 minute blocks across all 7 days of the week.

What types of alerts can I create?

You can configure a wide range of custom tracking alerts and receive them by push notification, SMS or email.

Can I generate custom reports?

Yes. You can create tailored GPS tracking reports using data such as drives and stops, geofence activity or alerts.

Reports can be generated manually or scheduled for email delivery daily, weekly or monthly.

Is your software accessible on both mobile and desktop?

Yes. BlackOwl offers a mobile app for Android and iOS, along with a detailed tracking platform accessible through your web browser.

You can stay connected to your fleet whether you are in the office or on the road.

Does your software have Google Maps integration?

Yes. Google Maps is integrated into BlackOwl's mobile apps and web platform.

You can select from normal, satellite or hybrid map overlays and view live traffic. OpenStreetMap is also available as an alternative mapping option.

Do you offer API documentation?

Yes. API documentation is available for compatible use cases.

How much do your GPS trackers cost?

BlackOwl GPS trackers are available to buy upfront, with annual tracking renewal.

  • Hardwired: from $250
  • OBD2 Plug and Play: $250
  • Portable Small: $250
  • Portable Large: $300

Tracking renews annually at $150 per tracker.

A $25 monthly business lease option is also available for businesses wanting no upfront hardware cost.

Why is a subscription required?

Every BlackOwl tracker has its own SIM card, which is required to transmit GPS tracking data over cellular networks to our server.

Your tracking subscription covers data, operating costs, tracking history storage, security updates and ongoing software development.

Do you offer discounts?

Yes. Discounts are available for upfront hardware purchases, especially when ordering multiple trackers.

How does the $25 lease option for businesses work?

Our business lease option is designed for Australian businesses that want to protect capital and avoid upfront hardware costs.

  • Ongoing warranty and future hardware upgrades included
  • Minimum 36 month term

What payment methods are accepted?

For upfront tracker hardware purchases, we accept credit cards, debit cards and Bitcoin.

For subscriptions and lease payments, we accept credit cards, debit cards and direct debit.

Bitcoin is also available for subscription and lease payments by arrangement. Please call us on 03 9111 6969 to discuss this option.
