A simple accessory for our OBD2 GPS tracker, this extension cable lets the tracker connect through your vehicle’s OBD2 port while giving you more flexibility over where the device sits. It is ideal when the factory OBD2 port is exposed, awkwardly positioned, easy to bump, or not suitable for a clean everyday setup.
Flexible placement
Allows your OBD2 tracker to be positioned away from the factory port, helping reduce the chance of it being knocked, bumped or sitting in an awkward spot.
Cleaner setup
Keeps the plug and play benefits of an OBD2 tracker while helping create a neater installation for vehicles where the OBD2 port is visible or poorly located.

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about using an OBD2 extension cable with your GPS tracker, including installation, placement, compatibility and cleaner setups.
What is an OBD2 extension cable used for?
An OBD2 extension cable lets you move your OBD2 GPS tracker away from the factory OBD2 port.
This can help create a cleaner setup, reduce the chance of the tracker being bumped and make the device less visible inside the vehicle.
Does the OBD2 extension cable need professional installation?
No. The cable plugs into your vehicle’s existing OBD2 port, then your OBD2 tracker plugs into the other end of the cable.
For most vehicles, this is a simple plug and play accessory.
Will it work with the BlackOwl OBD2 GPS tracker?
Yes. This accessory is designed for use with our OBD2 GPS tracker.
It gives you more flexibility when the factory OBD2 port is exposed, awkwardly positioned or not ideal for a neat tracker setup.
Can the cable help hide the OBD2 tracker?
Yes. The cable can help position the tracker away from the visible OBD2 port and into a more discreet location.
It is a good option when you want the convenience of an OBD2 tracker with a cleaner and less obvious installation.
Is this the same as a hardwired tracker?
No. The OBD2 extension cable still uses the vehicle’s OBD2 port and does not require wiring into the vehicle.
If you want a fully hardwired setup, view our hardwired GPS tracker instead.
Will the cable reduce the chance of my tracker being removed?
It can help. Because the tracker is no longer sitting directly in the factory OBD2 port, it can be placed somewhere less obvious and less likely to be bumped or noticed.
For best results, place the tracker somewhere secure where it is not tightly enclosed by metal, thick dashboard trim or positioned where it can be easily knocked loose.
Will unplug alerts still work when using the cable?
Yes. If the OBD2 tracker loses vehicle power because it is unplugged or disconnected, you will still be notified as the detected voltage will drop to 0V. If this occurs, your tracker's backup battery will automatically kick in to provide temporary power.
Can I buy the cable with an OBD2 tracker?
Yes. The OBD2 extension cable can be purchased as an accessory when setting up your OBD2 GPS tracker.
It is useful if you already know the vehicle’s OBD2 port is exposed, low near the driver’s feet or in a position where the tracker may be visible.
